Introduction to Psychology

Description

Students in this course study a range of explanations for human thought, behavior and emotion. Readings, projects, demonstrations and class discussions facilitate exploration of this fascinating and evolving field. Specific areas of focus include: the nervous system and brain functions; human development; emotion; learning and memory; social psychology; and addiction. Case studies of psychopathology, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, round out the course. Independent research and projects allow students to focus on specific topics of interest. Open to seniors. Note: This course does not provide credit toward the religion requirement.
